Salman Khan Gets His Charity On

Sure, he may be accused of being a woman beater, but Salman Khan has earned major brownie points in our book for his charitable ways.
On the sets of a music reality show, ‘Chhote Ustad’ last week, the star met Sahara Shaha, a 4-year-old girl diagnosed with leukaemia.
The actor made much of her (and four other cancer patients) throughout the evening and before he left, without any pomp or show, donated over $12,500 towards the young child’s treatment.
Sahara’s story is heartbreaking if not infuriating. She was afflicted with leukaemia when she was just 6 months old, says her mother. On learning about his daughter’s illness her father, who was in Kuwait, “simply disappeared” leaving her mother on her own without any financial support. The family lives in a slum colony in Kanjurmarg in northeast Mumbai, barely making ends meet.
“I have lost all contact with him. He has even changed his number. From that day, I have no financial support,” says the beleaguered mother. But thanks to Salman’s help Sahara can get proper treatment, she said with tears in her eyes.
Now, if only the rest of tight-fisted Bollywood did their bit for charity!

I agree. If all of Bollywood got together they would easily be able to remove a majority of people from poverty. Shahrukh Khan maybe be opening a cancer hospital Bilkis but that’s peanuts for someone with millions. It probably costs a few lakhs at most for a hospital…you’re telling me that’s a big deal? I bet he spends more than that in a week!
