I’ve never heard of Dabboo Ratnani until now and boy am I glad I did! Supposedly a famous photographer to the stars, Dabboo darling is mostly known for his annual calendar which has become a highly notable showbiz event in India since its first publication in 1999.  Ok, enough talking and on with the pictures! Celebs will lend their name and face to anything with a fat paycheck in sight – we’ve heard of Shilpa launching her own perfume, Hrithik sexing it up for John Players, Deepika for Kingfisher Airlines…the list goes on and on. Now, Shahrukh Khan is the first major Indian celebrity to be endoring Nokia mobile devices in the Indian market. 

Khan, who already endorses brands such as Airtel, Pepsi, Hyundai, Hewlett Packard, Tag Heuer, S.Kumars, ICICI Bank, Diageo’s Masterstroke, Videocon, Sunfeast and Dish TV, (Whew! I’m tired from just typing all that) commands close to Rs 5 crore (approx. 1,25 million US dollars) per deal, shamelessly says:  “…To be honest, I can say that celebrities cannot ensure a rise in the sales figures. ”

Looking nothing short of fierce, Shahrukh Khan’s leading lady, Gauri graces the new cover of the Indian edition of Vogue. Here are some snippets from her interview:

On her style: “I hate tight, revealing clothes. What I wear really depends on my mood and I always keep in mind that I am the wife of a very successful man.”

On being married to Shahrukh Khan: “He is the best husband and father I could ever ask for. I always say that I am so fortunate to be with Shahrukh Khan, the man. I don’t come from a space where I gush and praise - the world is doing enough of that. I like to keep my love for him private and inside the doors of Mannat.”

On posing for the fashion bible: “This is not my profession. It has to be something really new and unusual to make me want to do something like this. I did enjoy the shoot but to be honest, I wouldn”t do it very often.”

He starred in the most talked about movie, flashed the hottest abs and caused the most swoons in 2007. The votes have been cast for the "Sexiest Asian" man and the winner comes as no surprise. The 42-year-old hottie that is Shahrukh Khan was given the honor previously held by Abhishek Bachchan (sexy? really?) and John Abraham.

"Shah Rukh Khan is the complete package, good actor, good dancer, good looking and a showman," says Hamant Varma, founder of the Sexiest Asian list. This years runner ups are the usual suspects, Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham. Mind-you, both of them at least a decade younger than King Khan.

Here’s what Shahrukh told Eastern Eye upon hearing the news: "Me, really? Thanks. I feel too sexy to talk to anyone now! I never thought I would be called a sexy guy or be put into that category. It’s only because I carry myself the way I am comfortable - that is what is sexy, I think."

Sexy and humble. Anything more would be greedy!

Poor Bollywood celebs, some of which could use some attention, aren’t chased half as much as the ones in Hollywood. We know, for example, that the paparazzi have gone to great lengths to take photos of Britney and Angelina’s children. They hide in trees, peek over walls, run up to them at amusement parks and try to snag the million dollar shot, all this while celebs hold out for a big payday with the first pictures of their mini me’s!

Meanwhile, the Indian paparazzi are far less forceful and disruptive. Celebs have their privacy protected, but sadly for us it means we don’ get to see their offspring as much as we’d like to!
