Salman Khan was all smiles and poses as he unveiled his wax statue at Madame Tussaud’s in London. The Bollywood superstar personally chose and donated clothes for the wax figure and described it as an honour.
Most Indians would agree, but Mufti Salim Ahmad Qasmi, a Muslim cleric in India has issued a fatwa against the actor, claiming the statue is illegal according to the Sharia, which forbids depictions of all living creatures, Mohammed in particular.
The ruling was given on a query by Dr Sakhawat Khan. “I came to know about the wax statue of the actor at Madame Tussauds after seeing newspaper reports. As Islam doesn’t allow idol worship, I wanted to know if Salman had done the right thing by agreeing to the London firm’s offer,” said Khan.
“This is just nonsense that no one pays any attention to,” disagrees film critic Parsa Rao. “These fatwas are becoming a joke,” he adds.
Indeed, it is! Not too long ago, Salman was issued his first fatwa for dancing at a Hindu festival last month.
Next up on Sakhawat Khan’s list is unexpecting Shahrukh! “I had no idea that Shahrukh Khan’s statue is also present at Madame Tussauds. If I had known it, I would have also included his name along with Salman’s in my query to the Mufti,” said the doctor with too much time on his hands.

Surrounded by fans, Salman Khan unveiled his $400,000 wax figure at Madame Tussauds in London Tuesday, January 15.
The Bollywood actor beat nine other Indian mega stars – including Madhuri Dixit, Hritihik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan to win a place at the world famous waxworks museum after a whopping 10,000 fans voted for him in a public poll conducted last summer.
The vain actor who personally chose and donated clothes for the wax effigy described his likeness as “absolutely fantastic.”

An ex-boyfriend of Aishwarya Rai and current boy toy to model and eye candy Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan is known for his sharp eye and appreciation for beauty. After appearing alongside each other in David Dhawan’s “Partner”, Salman Khan & Lara Dutta’s on- and off-screen chemistry was undeniable.
Fortunately for Katarina the spark fizzled quickly and she had him all to herself. But now with Salman doing two more films one of which is titled Mr and Mrs Khanna, Katarina is feeling a bit threatened.
We don’t blame her! We wouldn’t want our men around someone as gorgeous as Lara especially since we know how the last movie starting with Mr & Mrs turned out!

Salman Khan spent less than a week in jail, following a five-year sentence imposed by a magistrate in 2006 for hunting a protected gazelle in 1998.
We can’t say we didn’t see this coming. India’s legal system has always been a joke and a perfect example of preferential treatement. What’s ridiculous is that they hand out sentences faster than it takes Nicole Richie to get out of jail, but yet it seems like no celeb serves their full time or fulfills their sentence.
