Wearing a loose white sleeve kurta, the 33-year-old looked a far cry from her sex kitten image at the launch of designer Anita Dongre’s store. Other celebrites in attendance included Neetu Chandra, Sanjay Suri and the pushy Mallaika Sherawat (pictured in red).

Kingfisher Airlines has signed on Deepika Padukone as its brand ambassador. Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and CEO, of Kingfisher Airlines Limited, just announced her as the new face. While there’s no word on whether she’s pleasing him in other ways, Mallya is certainly pleased with his decision:
“Kingfisher Airlines in the short span of 29 months, has firmly established itself as a market leader while setting new service benchmarks. Deepika Padukone, the Kingfisher Airlines brand ambassador, personifies the brand values of Kingfisher Airlines and what it stands for.” Yawn!
Meanwhile, always the charmer, Preity Zinta has been roped in by another airline – GoAir – as its first brand ambassador. “I’m absolutely delighted and excited to be associated with ‘GoAir’; the airline is colourful, energetic, stylish and full of fun, just like me, and it offers its passengers an experience of a lifetime,” say the dimple-faced actress. “I feel every Indian must experience the pleasures of flying regardless of their economic stature,” says Preity of the low fare airline.”

After a series of dreadful allegations, Aamir Khan’s family including his former wife Reena Datta, have hit back at claims that the actor held his brother prisoner. Faisal, 41, who suffers from periodic lapses into schizo-affective psychosis, was brought before the court following a missing-person complaint filed by his family.
The Khan’s insisted he was mentally unsound and needed to be admitted to hospital for further treatment, but Faisal says otherwise. He claims he was held captive at Aamir’s Bandra home where he was forced to pop pills. “I could not work because I was kept under house arrest by Aamir Khan. I was scared of his name, fame and power.” he says. His father, Tahir Hussain supports his version. He went on to add that if he must live with a family member, he preferred to live with his father alone. “I don’t want to live with him, but with my father because he is a nice man.”
Despite Aamir claiming his father is financially insecure, a court order granted him temporary custody which has left Aamir devastated. His supportive family, mother Zeenat T. Hussain, ex-wife Reena Datta, sisters Nikhat Khan Hegde and Farhat Khan, cousin Mansoor and current wife Kiran Rao along with other family members have issued the following statement:
“As a family, we have always believed in maintaining our silence and dignity, choosing not to react to the many absurd allegations that are frequently hurled at our loved one, Aamir. But this time we feel the need to express our utter shock, disgust and contempt at the public statements of Tahir Hussain and Faisal Khan. It is deeply distressing and saddening to see the depths to which Aamir’s father and brother have sunk, with the express intention of causing Aamir hurt. Their offensive allegations, malicious lies and pathetic behavior are truly shameful. Their behavior is all the more appalling given that Aamir has supported both his father and brother in every way possible for the last 15 years, and has on numerous occasions bailed them out of their various crises. Unfortunately Aamir’s goodness has only earned him their envy and hatred.”

Fresh off her trip to the US, Aishwarya Rai, who will be playing Mumtaz Mahal in a new flick, brought in her in 34th birthday in Agra with Abhishek Bachchan and family. Clad in a simple apple green salwar kameez, the light-eyed actress was photographed with her extra flashy hubby wearing a hairband and a loud floral shirt.
“I’m bringing it in with Abhishek, Ma and Pa. Abhishek was shooting an ad in Agra on Wednesday. So I joined him with Ma (mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan) and now Pa (father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan) has also joined us,” says a tired looking Aishwarya. “So you could say it’s a perfect birthday by the Taj Mahal, though not quite at the Taj Mahal. Have you seen the crowds over there? We can’t risk going to the Taj Mahal, but it’s just a stone’s throw away,” she adds. “It’s a pity my parents couldn’t join us here in Agra.”
What does she want for her birthday? She thinks a while and says, “Just blessings and good wishes. Apart from that God has given me everything.” You can say that again!
